Exploring Roots 2026

07-14-26 / 6:30 - 9:00 PM | *Practitioner PreRequisite class: $40 accreditation fee for Practitioner Students to be paid separately at the end of class*

Tuesdays, July 14th to Sept 15th @ 6:30 - 9:00 pm. (10 classes)

Instructor: Jeff Schlicht, RScP

The roots of Science of Mind run deep and wide, through the religions, philosophies,
literature, legends, and science of humankind. They are Universal Truths, Universal
Principles, which were encountered, recognized, synthesized, and structured into “a
philosophy, a faith, a way of life,” and called the Science of Mind by an ardent young
spiritual explorer named Ernest Holmes. A persistent questioner and rejecter of the
accepted religious teachings of his day and culture, Ernest as a small boy was
nicknamed “the eternal question box.

These are the particular Science of Mind roots which we propose to explore in the
coming weeks – the writings of three giants in the early New Thought Movement. We
will study them in the sequence by which they impacted the life and work of the young
Ernest Holmes: Ralph Waldo Emerson, the distinguished New England philosopher and
essayist; Thomas Troward, an eminent British jurist and metaphysician; and Emma
Curtis Hopkins, a greatly respected American teacher and mystic, often called the
“teacher of teachers.”

The Essential Ernest Holmes is the first course to delve into Ernest’s writings, feasting
on his quiet, devotional writings as well as his impassioned, chalk-in hand teachings to
future leaders. Ideal for everyone, from the future Practitioner to the inquisitive
newcomer, The Essential Ernest Holmes is a joyous experience in personal unfoldment.
